Sarina Prabasi, Co-Founder of Buunni writes a memoir that weaves between Nepal, Ethiopia, and the United States. When Prabasi and her husband move from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to New York City with their young daughter in 2011, they start a thriving coffee business, grow their family, and are living their American Dream. After the 2016 election, they are suddenly unsure about their new home.

Part coming-to-America story, part lyrical memoir, and yet another part activist’s call to action, The Coffeehouse Resistance: Brewing Hope in Desperate Times is timely, funny, and poignant.

What a great book! Coffee and our neighborhood

This is a superb book. I gave it to a young apprentice doctor who spent August with us as she interned at Columbia. She left about 5am every morning -- even weekends -- and came home after 7pm, or later. She never got to spend an hour or so drink coffee at Buuni's so we sent her home with the book to remind her of the neighborhood!

Oh, and now I always order an Ethiopian Machhiato !
